- Since May 13, 2026, new Lovable apps run on TanStack Start with server-side rendering and deliver finished HTML to users and crawlers.
- Existing React apps get pre-rendering that serves rendered HTML to Google, Bing, preview bots, and AI crawlers such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini.
- Semrush data is available in the builder chat without your own Semrush account, at no extra cost until November 30, 2026.
- The SEO/AEO review is included in all plans. Only fixing errors uses credits; it does not check load time or accessibility.
16:00With tools like Lovable, building an app or website now takes hours. The hard part comes afterward: the page has to be found, by Google as well as by ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini. For a long time, Lovable apps gave search engines a poor basis for this, because the content was only created in the browser via JavaScript.
With the discoverability update in May 2026, Lovable changed this fundamentally. It combines server-side rendering, pre-rendering, a Semrush integration in the chat, and an automatic SEO/AEO review. In this article, we show what changes, what you get out of it, and where your own work is still needed.
Lovable now delivers your app readably to search engines and AI crawlers
Until now, the real work began after publishing: creating sitemaps, maintaining meta tags, adapting the code for search engines, and transferring data from separate SEO tools. Lovable now handles much of this itself.
| Function | For whom | Status and costs |
|---|---|---|
| Server-side rendering (SSR) | New apps from May 13, 2026, on TanStack Start | Standard for new apps |
| Pre-rendering | Existing apps with React and Vite | Runs automatically on published, public URLs |
| Semrush in the chat | All users, no Semrush account of your own needed | No extra cost until November 30, 2026 |
| SEO/AEO review | All apps | Included in all plans; fixes use credits |
With server-side rendering, crawlers see your content immediately
New Lovable apps created since May 13, 2026 use the TanStack Start framework. The difference from the previous technology, a single-page app with React, is fundamental: previously, the browser only built the page via JavaScript. For many crawlers, it was therefore initially empty.
Now the server delivers a finished HTML document with every request. Google, the crawlers of ChatGPT and Perplexity, and previews in social networks see the content immediately:
- Before (single-page app): The browser loads an empty page, JavaScript starts, then the content appears.
- Now (SSR): The server delivers the page with content, meta information, and structure.
This matters because many AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript. Whatever is not in the HTML does not exist for them. More in our article on the JavaScript problem of AI crawlers.
Existing apps get pre-rendering without a rebuild
If you run an older app with React and Vite, you do not need to rebuild anything. Lovable pre-renders the pages on demand on the published, public URLs. Human visitors continue to experience the familiar app. Verified crawlers get the finished HTML: Google, Bing, bots for social media previews, and AI crawlers such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini.
There are two points you should know. Other tools, such as SEO scanners or link checkers, still see only the empty app shell; their results may therefore differ from the actual state. And existing projects can be migrated to TanStack Start. The migration uses credits and only takes effect when you republish the app.
With Semrush in the chat, you check demand before you build
New is the direct integration of Semrush in the builder chat. You do not need your own Semrush account or separate billing. Lovable uses the data for search terms, competitors, backlinks, and rankings. For example, you can ask:
- “Which search terms matter for my topic?”
- “Which search terms do I already rank for?”
- “Where are my competitors doing better?”
- “Build a landing page for the topic XYZ.”
On this basis, Lovable suggests topics and builds the matching page, with headings and meta information. According to Lovable, there are no additional costs for Semrush research until November 30, 2026.
The cost in credits depends on the scope of the task
A simple question in the chat costs credits for one message, as usual. The more steps Lovable has to run in the background, the higher the consumption: a competitor analysis costs more than a single keyword question, a complete landing page more than a list of topics.
The SEO/AEO review checks the basics for both search worlds
Alongside classic SEO, AEO (answer engine optimization) is gaining importance: your app should be selected and recommended as a source by ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity. On request, Lovable's review checks:
- sitemap and robots.txt
- meta information and previews for social networks (Open Graph)
- structured data and indexing tags
- structure of content and headings
- whether Lovable delivers a clean Markdown version of the page to AI crawlers
- whether Search Console is connected, the website verified, and the sitemap submitted
If the review finds an error, it can be fixed with a click. The review itself is included in all plans; only the fixes use credits. It does not check load time, accessibility, or mobile-friendliness; you still have to measure these with your own tools. The review also does not run automatically after every publish; you have to start it again after changes. We show how to connect Search Console in Connecting Google Search Console with Lovable.
The same basics apply to AI search as to Google
Google makes clear in its July 2026 guide: optimizing for AI Overviews and AI Mode is still SEO. Google Search does not use a separate file such as llms.txt, and no special structured data is needed. Lovable does not require an llms.txt either and does not flag its absence.
For your visibility, this means: readable HTML, clean indexing, and a clear page structure are the must-haves, and Lovable now largely takes care of them. Whether you are named in AI answers is then decided by content. Google emphasizes that unique content from your own experience counts, and warns against mass-producing pages to influence rankings.
What the update means for you depends on your role
- If you build yourself: You do not need to know how a canonical tag or structured data are built. Lovable provides the technical basics of discoverability.
- If you are founding a product: While still developing, you check whether anyone is searching for your product idea at all, before spending money on marketing. Landing pages for individual search terms can be created in a short time.
- If you advise: The tool handles standard technical checks such as a missing H1 with a click. The value of consulting lies in strategy, positioning in AI search, and data structures for large catalogs.
That is exactly where we see our role. When anyone can create a technically clean page with a few clicks, it becomes the standard. If you want to be at the top of search results and AI answers, you need content with your own data, experience, and a clear stance. More in our SEO strategies for Lovable projects.
Lovable is developing into a marketing platform
Lovable is evolving from a development tool into a platform on which marketing also takes place. Obvious next steps would be conversion tracking directly in the builder, running ads via chat, and automatic headline testing. Lovable has not announced any of these so far.
For companies, the question remains the same as with any channel: how much does the app contribute to inquiries, sales, and profit? The answer comes not from the tools but from clean tracking and clear management.
