The search engine is informed that the content that was previously found on URL A can now be found permanently on URL B. As a result, the search engine will use the redirected

Backlinks are still a relevant ranking factor. The logic behind this is as simple as it is ingenious: if many web pages link to a certain other page, this page must be relevant to a certain topic. Therefore, Google introduced the so-called “Mobile First Index” in April 2018. This did not represent a “second index”.
